After reading, parents will sign a 2026-27 Parent Handbook agreement within Magnus.

All handbooks may be found throughout the year on your myBGA divisional resource board and in the Battle Ground Academy app for quick reference.
Magnus is our third-party software for safely and securely storing health records, handbook agreements, and technology agreements.
You may access your Magnus Health account by clicking the Magnus Health resource board tile within myBGA. Within Magnus, you will review, complete, update, and/or submit the required forms and agreements. All forms must be submitted by August 1.

Summer reading is an important part of helping students stay engaged and prepared for the year ahead. Lower School summer reading is suggested, while Middle and Upper School summer reading is required. Please use the links below to find this year’s selections, grade-level instructions, and any related assignments.
Lower School Summer Reading
BGA uses several communication tools to help families stay connected.
myBGA
myBGA is BGA’s secure parent portal and a primary hub for school information. Families use myBGA to access student schedules, grades, report cards, forms, calendars, billing information, Magnus Health, and other important school resources.
Download the Battle Ground Academy App
The Battle Ground Academy app (available to download in your app store) gives families quick access to important school resources, including myBGA, calendars, news, announcements, and other helpful links. This year, families will also use the app’s group messaging tool to connect with class liaisons and other grade-level parents.

BGA Athletics App
Families can use the BGA Athletics app (available to download in your app store) to follow team schedules, scores, rosters, and athletics updates.
Sound Waves
Sound Waves is BGA’s parent newsletter and includes important school announcements, upcoming dates, reminders, and information families need to know. During the school year, Sound Waves is sent on Thursdays at 4 p.m. and is also available inside the Battle Ground Academy app on the Sound Waves tile.
The BGA Parent Association is a volunteer-led organization made up of every BGA parent that supports the school through service, fundraising, and community-building.

The Parent Association Guide includes information on upcoming events and fundraisers, including the fall uniform consignment sale, Roar Store shopping hours, volunteer opportunities, and contact information for Parent Association board members.

Uniform Consignment Sale: August 7-8
Shop gently used uniforms, jackets, spirit wear, blazers, choir clothes, and belts at the BGA Fall Uniform Consignment Sale, held at the Portico in front of Armistead Hall.
Sale hours: Friday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m., and Saturday, August 8 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Want to sell your own gently used items? Drop-off is Thursday, August 6 (9 a.m.-noon and 4-7 p.m.) and Friday, August 7 (9 a.m.-noon). Register as a consignor here, and keep 100% of your proceeds (or donate to Project Graduation 2027).
Volunteers are needed for all days and times — sign up for a shift here, and enjoy early access to shop the pre-sale on Friday from 1-3 p.m.

Parent Association volunteers help strengthen the BGA experience by supporting school events, admissions programs, grade-level activities, campus traditions, student celebrations, and faculty-staff appreciation efforts throughout the year.

Upper School
Francisco Alonso joins the Upper School STEM department. He brings 30 years of civil engineering experience and 12 years of teaching experience in California, giving students a practical, real-world perspective in the classroom.
Ansley Cribbs '13 returns to her alma mater as our newest History teacher, after earning a master's in education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
Jacqueline Holtschult joins the BGA Science department, relocating from California. She holds a master's in secondary teaching from the University of Southern California.
Middle School
Noah Eckert joins the Middle School World Language Department as a Latin and World Culture teacher. He has taught History and Latin at multiple grade levels and returns to the classroom after a stint as a lead trainer for Cox Automotive. He holds three master's degrees, including a recent MBA from the University of Arizona.
Emily Havens joins the Middle School Science department after a fellowship at Franklin Road Academy. She holds a bachelor's degree in marine science from the University of South Carolina and brings hands-on experience in scientific discovery to the classroom.
Audree Keele joins Middle School as an English teacher. She spent several years at Lipscomb Academy as both a faculty member and librarian, and holds a master's in library and information science from Trevecca Nazarene University.
Rebecca McGaugh joins Middle School as an English teacher with more than two decades of classroom experience. She most recently taught in Metro Nashville/Davidson County Schools. She holds a master's as a reading specialist from Lipscomb University, and her background in literacy instruction will support student growth in reading and writing.
Jordan Napier will teach both English and French to Middle Schoolers this year. Jordan holds a bachelor's degree in French from Rhodes College and a master's in education from Lipscomb University.
James Colmie Wilson joins the Band program after earning his bachelor's degree in music education from James Madison University. His experience performing in orchestras and bands throughout his career brings real-world musical experience to BGA students.
Lower School
Jessica Cole becomes Assistant Head of Lower School after seven years as an assistant principal in Williamson County Schools. Her background as a former kindergarten teacher and district mentor gives her a broad understanding of the school environment.
Melissa King joins the Lower School as Counselor, bringing 20 years of experience supporting students in multiple settings. She spent much of her career at Nashville Christian School, where she served as counselor and student life leader for the lower and middle schools. She holds a master's in counseling from Liberty University.
Early Learning Center
Caroline Behan joins the ELC as an Associate Teacher. She holds a bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Alabama, a background that lends itself well to the daily energy of the classroom.
Sarah Poligone joins the Early Learning Center as Assistant Head of the Early Learning Center. She has spent nearly a decade working with children as a speech pathologist and holds degrees in both special education and speech pathology, bringing specialized expertise to BGA's fastest-growing division.
Olivia Tutt '19 returns to BGA as an ELC Associate Teacher. She holds a bachelor's degree in kinesiology from the University of Kentucky. She most recently worked with the Stepping Stones Group at Park Avenue Elementary School, supporting diverse learners and developmental needs.
Staff
Vandell Grigsby, who has coached the Middle School football program for the past three years, joins BGA full-time on the facilities team, primarily supporting the Lower School and ELC campuses.
Kristy Hemshrodt joins the Upper School as Executive Assistant to the Head of Upper School. A current BGA parent, she knows the community and the pace of Upper School firsthand. She comes to BGA from Haven Design Group, a boutique design firm, and holds a master's in business from the University of Iowa.
Kim Jacobson joins the Business Office as Accounts Payable and Cash Management Specialist. She comes to BGA from Volunteer State Community College in Gallatin, Tennessee.
Sarah Tracy Kieffner '98 returns to BGA, as previously shared in the Alumni Newsletter. Sarah brings a personal connection to BGA's traditions and will focus on strengthening alumni ties and building new engagement opportunities for Wildcats across generations.
Leslie Sanderfur joins BGA as Associate Director of College Counseling. His background includes work in the admissions office at Centre College and college counseling at Montgomery Bell Academy, experience that will benefit BGA students as they navigate the college process.
Joseph Spence joins the Communications team as BGA's Content Producer. An award-winning media producer and director, he is a master storyteller with experience across film, podcasts, and social media.
Haley Treider joins the Advancement Office as Director of Advancement Projects, a new role coordinating fundraising, events, and communications across the department. She comes to BGA from the Stephen A. Schwarzman Education Foundation, where she managed global programming from planning through execution.
Internal Moves
Monica Frazier, after 13 years in the Lower School, steps into a new role as Director of Parent Engagement. She will serve as the primary liaison to the Parent Association, helping BGA parents stay connected and informed.
Jason Gregg '90 begins his 21st year at BGA in a new role as Director of Development, moving from Director of Major Gifts to oversee the Development and Advancement Services teams.
After a decade in the classroom, Diana Kosiba moves from Assistant Teacher on the third grade team to Lead Teacher at the Lower School.

BGA Explore Program
Our Early Learning Center, Lower School, and Middle School Explore Programs provide a variety of options to enrich a child’s educational experience after school. These fee-based classes cultivate a love of the arts, sciences, humanities, and athletics while promoting creativity, problem-solving, wellness, and cultural awareness.
Intercampus Shuttle & Bus Routes
Intercampus Shuttle: The intercampus shuttle is a service offered to parents of Lower School students who have students attending both campuses. The shuttle transports Lower School students from the Middle School in the morning and back to the Middle School in the afternoon, affording parents the convenience of one drop-off and pickup location. Space is limited, and online registration is required. The cost to ride the shuttle is $$100 per semester, billed to your FACTS account.
In addition to our intercampus shuttle, BGA will offer four bus routes for Lower, Middle, and Upper School students:
- Blue Route (Spring Hill, Columbia, and Berry Farms; morning and afternoon)
- Gold Route (Green Hills and Brentwood; morning only)
- Green Route (Murfreesboro and Arrington; morning only)
- White Route (Westhaven; morning only)

Please note: New Middle and Upper School students will not be able to access their book lists until BGA 101, when they will receive login access to their myBGA accounts.
Accessing Digital BooksOnce your order is placed, you may access your eCampus.com eBooks through your Digital Bookshelf. A link to the Digital Bookshelf is given to you at the Order Confirmation page and any following Order Confirmation emails. You can always access this from your student’s My Account on your school’s Online Bookstore.
You may access your eCampus.com eBooks in one of two ways:
Online Via Browser: Log in to your Digital Bookshelf, and select “More Info” below the book you want to view, and select the “Access” button. This link will take you directly into the book..
Download via Bookshelf (VitalSource) App: The Bookshelf app requires a separate login from the Online Bookstore that you must set up to access your eBooks. To set up this login, you must first access your eBook through the online method above (Digital Bookshelf) and set up an account. If not prompted, you may select the icon in the top right corner of the eCampus.com eBooks screen to set up your account.

Register now for Wildcat Welcome on Friday, September 4!
This all-school tailgate is hosted by the Academy in the quad of our Glen Echo Campus. The school provides the food and fun, allowing families to relax and enjoy getting to know each other. Our pep band and cheerleaders host a pep rally before families take the Wildcat Walk to Guffee-Brown Stadium for our home football season opener between Battle Ground Academy and Pearl Cohn.

Our Roar Store is BGA's on-campus retail shop, located on the Glen Echo campus and open during designated store hours and special events.
