At Battle Ground Academy, academics are more than what students know. They’re about how students think, question, and grow. From our youngest learners in the Early Learning Center through seniors in the Upper School, BGA students engage in an intentionally designed, inquiry-based curriculum that builds a foundation of intellectual agility, creative thinking, and leadership.
Across all divisions, our faculty create dynamic classrooms where curiosity is sparked, challenge is embraced, and students are known, encouraged, and inspired. Grounded in our core values of Character, Scholarship, and Excellence, BGA’s academic program equips students to meet today’s demands — and tomorrow’s possibilities — with confidence and clarity.

Through purposeful play and early instruction in literacy, numeracy, science, and the arts, our ELC students learn to ask questions, explore ideas, and begin to see themselves as capable, curious learners. Routines and expectations are intentionally aligned with our Lower School to ensure a seamless transition into kindergarten.
In our Lower School, students stretch their thinking through hands-on academics, problem-solving challenges, and cross-disciplinary connections. With a strong foundation in reading, writing, math, and science — as well as Spanish, art, music, wellness, and design thinking — Lower School students grow into confident learners and caring classmates.
Middle School is a time of transformation, and at BGA, it’s where curiosity, confidence, and independence come to life. Our inquiry-based curriculum includes core subjects, honors-level options, and electives in engineering, robotics, visual and performing arts, and more. Students are challenged to think critically, collaborate effectively, and see learning as a launching point for leadership.
In the Upper School, students pursue academic excellence across a robust curriculum that includes AP and honors courses, electives, and four signature academic concentrations. Learning is both rigorous and relevant, preparing students to write and reason clearly, tackle real-world challenges, and lead with insight and integrity.
Why It Matters
At BGA, we believe deep thinking, wide horizons, and bold questions lead to meaningful growth. Our curriculum reflects that belief, offering students the freedom to explore and the support to succeed.
