Battle Ground Academy believes that a strong graduating class begins with a strong Kindergarten class. In order to attract the best students for our academic program, we must have a Lower School facility that can compete visually with new elementary schools being built in Williamson County while maintaining the charm that draws families to us. Since BGA became a K-12 school by incorporating Harpeth Academy in the 1990s, it has been debated as to whether BGA was going to keep a footprint in downtown Franklin. Today, the decision to keep our Lower School on the Harpeth campus has proven to be a wise one. The growth and prosperity of Franklin since then has kept families close to our doors, and our keeping a presence in Franklin is only fitting as the histories of the school and of the city will forever be connected.
Planned renovations will bring more natural light into classrooms and enhance the common spaces of the cafeteria and the library. All renovations to the Lower School will respect the historic nature of the building and will keep future uses for the building by BGA in mind.
