The faculty and staff of Battle Ground Academy want to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving holiday. We also want to remind everyone that the school offices will be closed November 17 through November 25 for the holiday. We will resume normal school hours on Monday, November 26.

Volunteering at BGA is a great way to contribute to the life of the school and meet fellow parents and new friends. The many exciting activities that take place at BGA throughout the year would not be possible without our parent volunteers. To get started, complete the volunteer form included in your summer forms or contact Candy Sullivan, director of community relations.
Battle Ground Academy Parent Association (PA) promotes BGA through a variety of events and endeavors which support all students, faculty, and parents. The PA organizes numerous activities including parent socials, Denim & Diamonds (the largest fundraiser for BGA), faculty appreciation luncheons, and magazine sales. Parent volunteers provide crucial assistance to the Fine Arts department for drama performances and art shows, to the Athletics department with sports banquets and concession stands, to faculty members with field trips and class parties, and so much more. There is something and some place for everyone to become actively involved at BGA.

After filling out and submitting the the survey form, parents will be contacted by a parent serving as the Chairperson of that particular committee. The BGA Fund is BGA’s most important philanthropic endeavor, and the fund supports every aspect of the Academy. A strong BGA Fund helps the school attract and retain a highly talented and committed faculty; purchase and support necessary classroom technology; and create and sustain numerous clubs, sports, arts, and extracurricular activities. Ultimately, The BGA Fund ensures that the school can continue its mission to ignite and nurture student curiosity, intellect, and character.
Other fundraisers managed by the PA, such as Denim & Diamonds, Jamboree or Chili Cook-off, benefit activities like school dances, Project Graduation, student and parent socials, new playground equipment, student leadership retreats, and other celebrations and recognitions for our students. Every year, BGA’s CFO, division heads, and department heads determine the greatest needs and desires across all aspects of the school. Then, at the end of the academic year, the CFO presents a wish list of items to the PA. The PA Board votes on how they would like to spend the money raised through PA fundraisers.

Merchant Reward Program
Last year, BGA families raised approximately $7,500 in free money simply by shopping at some of our favorite retail and grocery outlets with our Merchant Reward Program. If your family shops at Amazon, Publix, or Kroger, please designate BGA as your preferred nonprofit. BGA also participates in the BoxTops for Education program.
