Recent BGA graduates Mikah Charley ‘20 and Meghan Ziegler ‘20 were awarded the Tom Murdic Educational Scholarship by the African American Heritage Society of Williamson County.
“In my first year as BGA’s Director of Equity and Inclusion, I’ve focused on developing relationships with our students,” said Dr. Michelle Arnold. “Mikah and Meghan were among the first students to welcome me, and while their academic achievement is indeed noteworthy, I have also been impressed by their work ethic and drive.
“When I was contacted about nominating students for the Tom Murdic Scholarship, after reading the qualifications, and without hesitation, I encouraged Mikah and Meghan to apply. It thus came as no surprise that they were named recipients.”
The $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Mikah and Meghan for their academic achievements, commitment to community service, and interest in African American history and heritage.
The BGA community is invited to join the AAHS drive-by celebration of its scholarship recipients on Saturday, July 18, from 2-3 p.m. at McLemore House Museum at 446 11th Avenue N in Franklin.
