Helen Zhou '20 Named Mary Campbell Easel Award Recipient
The BGA Visual Arts Department is pleased to honor senior Helen Zhou with the 2019-20 Mary Campbell Easel Award for the third quarter.
Helen has been a dedicated studio art student throughout her high school career. Helen has worked diligently this year on developing her AP Portfolio focused on exploring and exposing the elements beneath the surface of ancient human sculptures. Helen has pushed the boundaries of mixing her digital work with her traditional drawings and paintings. Helen won the Artistic Innovator Award this year for her continued process in experimenting and combining materials throughout this year. Her unique style and vision have left a significant imprint on the visual arts program. We could not be more proud of the skilled work Helen has accomplished throughout the year!
About the Mary Campbell Easel Award: Along with the gift of the Mary Campbell Visual Arts Center, Battle Ground Academy’s art department was also fortunate to receive several pieces of furniture and equipment from Mary Campbell’s studio. One of these was her easel. To honor Mary’s memory, it was decided that every quarter, the Visual Arts teachers would review the work of current students and choose a piece of art they feel exemplifies the qualities BGA students strive to achieve: creativity, effort, and quality. The chosen piece receives the Mary Campbell Easel Award and is displayed for the duration of the next quarter.
