Battle Ground Academy graduating seniors Annie Arvizu and Eli Mayberry have received appointments to the United States Military Academy (West Point) and United States Naval Academy respectively.
Arvizu was nominated by Sen. Marsha Blackburn. She is president of the school’s Honor Council and was a Volunteer Girls State Delegate. Arvizu is involved in leadership positions for numerous other organizations both inside and outside of BGA.
Mayberry was nominated by then-Sen. Bob Corker and Congressman John Cooper. He is a member of the High Honor Roll, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society. He has been active in several organizations, including Honor Council, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and others. Mayberry also is a four-year letterman in football and baseball.
“While we celebrate all the many successes of our students in the college process, we are especially proud and honored when students are given such an incredible opportunity and choose to serve their country in one of the armed services academies,” BGA Head of School Will Kesler said. “Eli and Annie are phenomenal young people who will make BGA and our country very proud as they continue their education at the Naval Academy and West Point, respectively. I know they will be leaders who will make a positive impact on everyone around them, and we wish them the very best.”
