Ellie Moran '24 Named Mary Campbell Easel Award Recipient
The BGA Visual Arts Departmenet is pleased to honor Ellie Moran '24 with the 2018-2019 3rd Quarter Mary Campbell Easel Award.
Ellie has been a very dedicated and curious artist throughout her first year at BGA and has worked hard on developing her clay sculpting skills. She has sophisticated ideas and an open mind to listening and learning. With this project, Ellie made the body of the tree trunk first to be a functioning whistle. She then sculpted the fox to sit on top. Ellie’s technical skills, thoughtful ideas and desire to build upon what she already knows came together well in this ceramic piece. We could not be more proud of the skilled work Ellie has accomplished throughout the year!
About the Mary Campbell Easel Award: Along with the gift of the Mary Campbell Visual Arts Center, Battle Ground Academy’s art department was also fortunate to receive several pieces of furniture and equipment from Mary Campbell’s studio. One of these was her easel. To honor Mary’s memory, it was decided that every quarter, the Visual Arts teachers would review the work of current students and choose a piece of art they feel exemplifies the qualities BGA students strive to achieve: creativity, effort, and quality. The chosen piece receives the Mary Campbell Easel Award and is displayed for the duration of the next quarter.
