JV and Varsity Volleyball End the 2018 Season with Winning Records
Both JV and Varsity Volleyball teams ended their seasons with winning records. JV finished 17-3 (overall); 14-0 (district). Varsity finished 24-13 (overall); 13-1 (district). Highlights include finishing as the number one seed in the district, finishing second in district finals, fourth in the region and making the Elite 8 for the division in the state of Tennessee. Additionally, BGA Varsity finished fifth in the MidTN tournament and JV finished fourth.
Players exemplified heart consistently in practices and in matches. Seniors, Avery Tidwell, Gracie Bailey and Taylor Tigue were acknowledged for milestone achievements and all-district/region recognition. Senior Olivia Tutt and sophomore Christine Jewell were also awarded spots on the all-district team. Three JV players were promoted to play for Varsity at the end of the season: Ally Newkirk '21, Jessi Meghreblian '22 and Abby Robertson '22.
Coaches worked together and covered a range of tasks, including parent communication, moral support for players, stat keeping, practice planning and aid, tournament scheduling, locker room protocol, bus/travel coordination, media communication, etc. Coaches succeeded in establishing a competitive schedule throughout the season, including tournament play and seeing non-district opponents in the regular season.
