BGA Bootstraps Winners Announced

In a lively celebration of entrepreneurial spirit and innovation, Battle Ground Academy has announced the winners of its inaugural BGA Bootstraps competition. Created to mark the 10th anniversary of the Entrepreneurial Leadership Program, the initiative provides $10,000 in startup funding to help BGA alumni bring their ventures to life. Five entrepreneurs were each awarded $2,000 grants to advance their business ideas:

Claire Crunk, Class of 2002 – Trace Femcare, Inc.

Claire Crunk is on a mission to revolutionize feminine hygiene with environmentally sustainable products. Trace Femcare offers pads and tampons made from regenerative cotton and hemp fibers, combining safety and ecological benefits. Claire will use the grant to complete FDA testing for the first-ever hemp fiber tampon, advancing her vision for healthier, more sustainable options​.

Clay Franklin, Class of 2018 – Arid Delivery Products, LLC

Clay Franklin is addressing a major frustration in food delivery: cold, soggy meals. His company, Arid Delivery Products, has designed an insulated bag that retains heat and removes moisture, offering a restaurant-quality dining experience at home. The grant will fund his first large-scale production run, making this innovative solution accessible to delivery companies nationwide​.

Trace Alexander, Class of 2022 – Trace’s Oats, LLC

What began as a social media experiment during Trace Alexander’s junior year has grown into a full-time business. Trace’s Oats offers high-protein overnight oats with no added sugar and indulgent flavors, catering to health-conscious consumers. Trace will use the grant for marketing, influencer outreach, and scaling production to meet increasing demand​.

Alyssa White, Class of 2022 – Watni, Inc.

Alyssa White’s startup, Watni, is an AI-powered personal finance app aimed at Millennials and Gen Z. Watni’s unique decision engine helps users pay off debt and save for future goals through customized financial plans. Alyssa will allocate the grant toward a marketing campaign ahead of the app’s soft launch​.

Kennith Lohmann, Class of 2024 – Hollow Nest

Kennith Lohmann is transforming the home-buying process with Hollow Nest, a platform that uses 3D visualization and virtual reality to help clients design and explore their future homes. The grant will fund software development for a beta launch scheduled for this spring​.
