Dear Fellow Alumni:
Welcome to the BGA Alumni page! It is an honor to serve the BGA Alumni Association as President of the 2019-2020 Alumni Board. This year’s Alumni Board is excited to continue the recent successes that have been experienced on behalf of the Alumni Association. Our members represent six decades of alumni, from the 1960s through our recent 2019 graduates.
I have enjoyed experiencing BGA first as a student, then as an alumnus, and now as a parent. I am hopeful that each of you will also continue life-long personal connections to our school.
This year, the Alumni Board continues to bring you plenty of opportunities to connect with multiple generations of Wildcats. We are kicking off the new school year with a renewed focus on bringing alumni home to BGA, and not just at Homecoming or Reunion Weekend. In 2017, we launched our first-ever online Alumni networking and information platform—BGA Connects, where alumni can post job listings, interact with other Wildcats around the world, and stay informed of BGA happenings and events. As the BGA Connects platform grows, we hope to facilitate networking opportunities for alumni of all ages.
Last year, we hosted networking events where BGA alumni could learn more about industries of their interest or just make a new connection. The addition of alumni events in major cities across the country has allowed Wildcats to find and meet others who live and work in their community.
As ambassadors of the school, the Alumni Board is responsible for facilitating gifts to and growing the BGA Fund. This ongoing giving campaign provides funds that fill the gap between student tuition and the full cost of educating future alumni. The BGA Fund is our most important philanthropic endeavor, and the fund supports all aspects of the Academy that we loved when we were students. We saw a 60% increase in the number of alumni donors last year, and we hope to build upon that success this year. Ultimately, the BGA Fund ensures that the school can continue its mission to ignite and nurture student curiosity, intellect, and character. Your contributions to the BGA Fund support the people – past, present, and future. The dollars you give go to alumni events such as homecoming and reunion weekend; the dollars you give fund BGA Connects and networking events (which we hope to grow); the dollars you give provide resources to retain the faculty and staff that continue the student experience that we had; and, finally, the dollars you give help support the school’s ability to offer financial aid to deserving students that would not otherwise be able to attend the school.
We invite all alumni to return to campus for Homecoming weekend (September 26-28, 2019). This year, we will kick off the festivities with a bonfire on Thursday, September 26. The Alumni Homecoming Party will be at the Fleming House before the Homecoming game on September 27. The weekend will conclude with the always enjoyable Alumni Hall of Fame Induction and Brunch on Saturday, September 28. Please check out the website for details and registration.
I also hope you will return to campus in the Spring during Reunion Weekend (May 1-2, 2020). Class years ending in five (5) and zero (0) will celebrate reunions this year, and there will be all-alumni events as well. Stay tuned for details and make your travel plans early. We’re already looking forward to a fantastic spring weekend with everyone.
On June 4, 2020, we will hold our annual BGA Golf Classic, our largest fund-raising event, which benefits the Alumni Scholarship Fund. This event is popular among golfers of all skill levels, with plenty of great food, prizes, socializing and laughs. Last year was our most successful Golf Classic yet, and we will attempt to raise even more money for the Alumni Scholarship Fund this year!
If you have any questions about (1) ways to give; (2) how to help in fundraising; (3) how to become more involved with BGA alumni activities; or (4) how to become more involved with campus activities, please feel free to reach out to me (email@example.com ) or Kristin Napier (firstname.lastname@example.org). We also welcome ideas for future alumni events and ways to improve our connection with all of you.
Wishing all the best for you and best for the Academy,
President of the BGA Alumni Board
Class of 1993
