Dear Fellow Alumni:
Welcome to the BGA Alumni page! It is an honor to serve the BGA Alumni Association as president of the 2020-21 Alumni Board. This year’s board members represent six decades of alumni (from the 1960s to 2020), and we are excited to continue building upon the recent successes of the Alumni Association.
This year, we are seeking direct input from alumni classes to the Alumni Board, and we are asking each class to appoint a Class Secretary to serve as a liaison to the Alumni Board and Glen Echo. If you are interested, please email the Office of Alumni Relations at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Alumni Board continues to bring you plenty of opportunities to connect with multiple generations of Wildcats. We are kicking off the new school year with a renewed focus on bringing alumni home to BGA (and not just at Homecoming or Reunion Weekend!), and we’re creating Alumni networking opportunities in major cities across the country. Additionally, we’re excited to re-launch BGA Connects, our online alumni networking and information platform. Log on now to search job postings, interact with other Wildcats, and view the most up-to-date information on BGA happenings and events.
As ambassadors of the school, the Alumni Board is also responsible for growing the BGA Fund. The BGA Fund is our most important philanthropic endeavor, and in 2020, it was critical to our ability to educate students during COVID-19. The BGA Fund allowed us to quickly allocate dollars to <<more details about how the money was spent>>. Not only does the BGA Fund ensure the school can continue to fulfill its mission, it also supports all aspects of the Academy that we loved when we were students AND the people – past, present, and future. The dollars you give go to alumni events, such as Homecoming and Reunion Weekend; fund BGA Connects and networking events; provide resources to retain the faculty and staff who continue the student experience that we had; and, finally, support the school’s ability to offer financial aid to deserving students who would not otherwise be able to attend the school.
We hope all alumni will return to campus for Homecoming Weekend (October 23-24). You can click here for more details and to register. I also hope you will return to campus in the spring during Reunion & Alumni Weekend (April 16-17). Class years ending in five (5) and zero (0) will make up their canceled reunions from last spring; class years ending in six (6) and one (1) will also celebrate their reunions; and we will have will be all-alumni events as well! Stay tuned for details and make your travel plans early.
If you’re a golfer (from putt-putt to professional), we invite you to mark your calendar for June 3, 2021, when we will hold our annual BGA Golf Classic, our largest fundraising event, which benefits the Alumni Scholarship Fund. This event is popular among golfers of all skill levels, with plenty of great food, prizes, socializing, and laughs. The 2019 event was our most successful Golf Classic yet, and we hope to raise even more money for the Alumni Scholarship Fund this year!
If you have any questions about (1) serving as Class Secretary; (2) how to help in fundraising; (3) how to become more involved with BGA alumni activities; or (4) how to become more involved with campus activities, please feel free to reach out to me (email@example.com) or Kristin Napier (firstname.lastname@example.org). We also welcome ideas for future alumni events and ways to improve our connection with all of you.
I have enjoyed experiencing BGA as a student, as an alumnus, and now as a parent, and I am hopeful that each of you will also continue lifelong personal connections to our school.
Wishing all the best for you and the best for the Academy,
President of the BGA Alumni Board
Class of 2002
