Getting Started

Step 1:  To begin the process, first complete the Online Inquiry Form. In this step, you will be asked to provide information that will be used to create your family's record. You will receive an email with your Username that will be required for accessing your MyBGA account going forward.

Step 2:  To schedule an individual tour for Grades K-4, please contact Elizabeth Spitzer at (615) 567-2018 or The tour will start on our Harpeth Campus, 150 Franklin Road in Franklin, Tennessee. To schedule a tour for Grades 5-8, please email Taylor Wittmer at (615) 567-9010 or  For Grades 9-12, contact Jared Street at (615) 567-8464 or Middle and Upper School tours will start in the Admissions Office in the Glen Echo house on our Glen Echo Campus, 336 Ernest Rice Lane in Franklin, Tennessee.

Step 3:  Complete an Online Application.  BGA is accepting applications for the 2021-2022 academic year. Priority deadline for the Lower, Middle and Upper School is Monday, January 15, 2021. After January 15, 2021, additional follow up documents will still be accepted for all applicant files. After this date, applications will still be considered as space allows.

Step 4:  Schedule your testing.

Testing for Grades K-4:  Applicants for Lower School are required to complete an assessment. Kindergarten Testing is done at the Lower School on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday mornings by appointment and takes approximately an hour to an hour and a half. First-fourth grade testing will take place on your child’s shadow day. To schedule testing, please contact Elizabeth Spitzer at (615) 567-2018 or  Please note, we are unable to hold an assessment time for your child without an application on file.

     Testing for Grades 5-12:
Applicants for Middle and Upper School are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). BGA administers the ISEE on campus periodically.  If you are applying to BGA and would like to take the test on campus, please call us for an invitation code to register. If you are taking the ISEE at another school, BGA's school code is 430700.  Please email Taylor Wittmer, Associate Director of MS Admissions, for more details.

Step 5:  Schedule your shadow day.  Shadow Days allow your student to participate in a classroom discussion, play at recess, and meet our inspiring faculty, helping to equip your family to make what could be one of the most important academic decision of your child's life. Likewise, this visit day is a critical piece in helping a student feel comfortable with becoming a part of a new school community.

Lower School:  Shadow days are required for applicants in grades 1-4.  You will be contacted to schedule your child’s shadow day once an application has been submitted.  Admissions assessments for grades 1-4 will be administered at this time.

Middle and Upper School:  During their visit, prospective students will spend the day on campus, paired with a current student who will introduce them to students and teachers, take them to lunch and recess, and help the student feel comfortable and welcome - a trademark of BGA.  If you know a current BGA student you would like to shadow, let us know and we will arrange that for you.
Step 6:  Request school records (not required for kindergarten applicants) and teacher recommendations. These forms are available to download as part of your admissions checklist once you've applied, and are also available from the links at the right.

Step 7:  Apply for Financial Aid, if requested.  Deadline is February 1, 2021.  After February 1, applications will still be considered as funds allow.

Step 8:  Track your application progress through your personalized online checklist.

Step 9:  BGA will notify families of admission decisions on February 27, 2021.  We look forward to working with you and your student throughout the admissions process.
From our first meeting, I could feel the sense of community in the hallways. There's a healthy energy and enthusiasm for learning at BGA. Children’s artwork adorned the walls and lots of smiles came our way from adults and kids.  -- Lower School Parent
