Middle School Awards

The Sgt. Scott H. Lape Leadership Award
This award is presented in memory of Sergeant First Class Scott H. Lape who set an example by always working hard and treating his men with dignity and respect.  It is given to an 8th grade girl and boy who have worked hard, treated their classmates with dignity, respect, and kindness, and have quietly done the right thing each
day.  

The Marylou Brown Community Service Award
The Marylou Brown Community Service Award is given in memory of Mrs. Marylou Brown whose life was filled with energy and enthusiasm, as she aways sought to help others.  It is presented each year to the student who has exemplified the life and spirit of Mrs. Brown through their community service.

The Agnes Stokes Fort More Award for Arts Participation
This award is given in memory of Agnes Stokes Fort More who was intensely interested in nature, the arts, and her fellow man, and who was always busy lifting others up.  She believed a strong faith, a happy heart, and a concern for and love of others are the true things of life. The award is presented to an 8th grade student who has embodied the qualities and spirit of Agnes More through active participation in the arts.  

The Gary Brock Award for Athletic Participation
This award is presented to an 8th grade girl and boy who has been active in the sports program and exemplified good sportsmanship, citizenship, and academics.  It is given in memory of Coach Gary Brock who was a Middle School coach until his passing in 1995.

The Clint Rice Citizenship Award
Each year, the Clint Rice Citizenship Award is given to a member of the 8th grade class who most portrays the character traits of the student for whom the award is named.  Clint Rice was a conscientious student, an athlete, and a class leader who was cooperative, dependable, and well liked.

Golden Apple Award
The Golden Apple awards are given each year to a teacher in each division judged by the administration, faculty, student body, and parents to be an outstanding teacher.

Second Mile Award
This award is presented to a faculty or staff member at each division in memory of Mark Knabe, a former BGA student. The award is for contributions made outside the area of classroom instruction.
