Education Elevated

At Battle Ground Academy, we talk a lot about "Education Elevated." The phrase is on banners that welcome you to campus. It's in our ads and in our view book, and it appears in our videos. But it's more than a phrase. It is the BGA experience.

Education Elevated is how our faculty members approach teaching, get to know our students, and empower them to take ownership in their education. It's in the support and encouragement our students find on the field, in the studio, on the stage, and in the classroom. It's in the opportunity that lies before them – on our campus and beyond – and their eagerness to seize it. And, it's in our graduates, who leave the Academy armed with the tools necessary to accomplish their academic, professional, and personal goals, becoming successful graduates at some of the nation's top colleges and universities.

Elevate the Craft and Practice of Teaching

We believe in the enormous potential within every child, and we know that full potential is not achieved by merely acquiring academic skills and facts. It is achieved within a community where the needs of each individual are recognized, supported, and encouraged. At Battle Ground Academy, our teachers are empowered and inspired to create such a community. They focus full attention on each student every day and follow and support students as they grow from impressionable kindergarteners to young adults ready for independence.

Educate the Whole Child Intentionally

A BGA education involves much more than mastery of age-appropriate academic skills. As we get to know each student individually, we consider the whole child, including their cognitive and social-emotional skills, and create opportunities for deeper understanding and growth in each area.

Develop Student Agency

Student agency — the ability of students to have a voice and choice in their learning — is essential in the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to thrive in and to adapt to diverse environments. It teaches students how to think, not what to think, and empowers students to determine what they learn and how they learn it.

Extend Education Outside the Classroom

We understand teachable moments are everywhere and provide opportunities for our students to learn beyond the four walls of our classrooms. Education outside the classroom can make learning more relevant and engage students in the wider world.
