Upper School
Preparing Future-Ready Students in Grades 9-12 from an Independent School in Franklin, TN
Battle Ground Academy’s Upper School is a setting in which any student can flourish. At the forefront of our program is our gifted, experienced faculty who challenge learners in a comprehensive, college-preparatory environment, using the latest methodology and innovative technology, within a 21st century curriculum. Our small class sizes allow our teachers to provide personal attention and establish lifelong relationships with their pupils.
Transformational Education
We empower our Upper School students to determine what they learn and how they learn it, and encourage a growth mindset, in which students define and work toward goals. Along the way, we allow students to struggle while providing them the support they need to push ahead and build resilience. Our students know they can make a mistake – or miss a goal – and still have the support of their teachers.
Dynamic Curriculum
Our Upper School campus features academic buildings dedicated to science, English, Entrepreneurial Leadership, math, history, foreign language, and visual and performing arts; and similar to top liberal arts colleges and universities, our curriculum is designed to ensure our students receive an education experience beyond what is commonly available. Students are encouraged to define a course of study that is both interesting and challenging, choosing from more than 100 class options, including 21 Advanced Placement courses.
Community and Character
As a college preparatory school, we put a strong focus on academics, but we know college preparedness goes beyond academic expectations. It’s about instilling honor, character, and integrity, and helping students develop the skills required to be leaders wherever they go.
Student Involvement
We believe healthier, more successful students find a balance that allows them to complete their coursework at a high level while finding time to participate in extracurricular activities. Our students are immersed in a variety of co-curricular endeavors that serve as an extension of our classrooms. Each student has the opportunity to develop an understanding and true passion for the area in which they excel, whether that be through participation in one of our thirty club offerings, comprehensive fine arts curriculum, or our competitive athletic program.
College Preparedness
BGA’s College Center is a vital resource for our students and parents as they navigate the college admissions process.
Our College Center team understands that the path to college can be both thrilling and challenging and works to provide comprehensive support and guidance through a student-driven process that ensures they make informed decisions about their academic and career pursuits.
Our aim is to empower students to think critically, problem solve, and effectively apply their analysis of information.
