Senior Sara Evans Receives Second Quarter Mary Campbell Easel Award
BGA is pleased to honor senior Sara Evans with the Mary Campbell Easel Award for the second quarter. Evans’ winning piece, “Retriever,” is her first true endeavor with colored pencils and is one of 15 pieces in her AP Studio Art Portfolio. She has always enjoyed drawing animals (especially dogs), and her AP portfolio investigates the many ways that the human and dog relationship manifests itself.

Evans has been a BGA art student for eight years, and her dedicated work, desire to learn, and growing skills are the perfect combinations for creating wonderful artwork.

About the Mary Campbell Easel Award: Along with the gift of the Mary Campbell Visual Arts Center, Battle Ground Academy’s art department was also fortunate to receive several pieces of furniture and equipment from Mary Campbell’s studio. One of these was her easel. To honor Mary’s memory, it was decided that every quarter, the Visual Arts teachers would review the work of current students and choose a piece of art they feel exemplifies the qualities BGA students strive to achieve: creativity, effort, and quality. The chosen piece receives the Mary Campbell Easel Award and is displayed for the duration of the next quarter.
