BGA Volleyball Wins Back-to-Back Division II A Regional Championship Title

For the second straight year, the BGA Lady Wildcats Volleyball team has won the Division II A Regional tournament after defeating Goodpasture, the defending state champion, in a hard fought four set match: 28-26, 27-26, 24-26, 25-23. The win secures for BGA a first round bye in the sub-state tournament.

Junior outside hitter Mac Huntington led the team with 20 kills, followed by senior right side hitter Bella Rye with 19 kills. Junior setter Kyra Hampton contributed with 44 assists while junior libero Izzy Northam racked 38 digs.

Coach Tatiana Alvarez said of the match, "It was well fought by both teams. It felt like so many times we were back and forth. Goodpasture did an excellent job of starting strong, forcing us to have to play catch up quite a bit. We found a lot of success running plays with our right side and middle attacks and our passing got better and better as we went along. It could have gone either way but I'm glad we pulled through tonight."

Congratulations to junior Izzy Northam, junior Mac Huntington, and senior Bella Rye (MVP) who were named to the All Regional Tournament Team.
