A Joyful Place for Grades K-4 in an Independent School in Franklin, TN

In Lower School, we nurture each child’s intellectual, creative, moral, emotional, and physical growth on an individual level. It is a joyful place, inspiring not only lifelong learning but also character, scholarship, and service. Through a dynamic curriculum that values learning through inquiry, students master foundational skills balanced with critical thinking and problem solving.

Beginning in Fall 2024, BGA will offer pre-K4 and pre-K5 in its Early Learning Center

Transformational Education Begins

The transformational educational experience at BGA begins in early learning. Behind these historic doors on the outskirts of downtown Franklin, kindergarten through fourth graders thrive in a vibrant educational environment. Character education is central to our program, as we believe in the importance of raising moral citizens as well as teaching able scholars.

Dynamic Curriculum

The Lower School offers a dynamic curriculum that values learning through inquiry, emphasizing mastery of foundational skills balanced with critical thinking and problem solving required in the 21st century. We recognize that every child learns differently, and teachers work in partnership with parents to help each child succeed. Co-curricular classes complement our core curriculum in a design that truly develops the whole child.

Community and Character

While our academic programs establish a solid foundation for our college preparatory curriculum, it is our school community and our emphasis on character and service that truly set us apart from other schools. Each child is valued as a member of our community, and faculty and staff members know each child by name. We hold high expectations for student learning and behavior, and teachers work together to prepare our children for the Middle School and beyond.

Parental Support

Parental support is vital to our school community. A healthy partnership between school and home fosters a child’s success in school. We offer numerous opportunities for parents to participate, and we welcome family involvement.

The Lower School inspires a community of learners to begin a lifelong journey of scholarship and service. Come visit us, and you’ll feel the difference. Your child’s success starts here, at Battle Ground Academy’s Lower School.
