Success Continues for Speech Team Members

Congratulations to the speech team which headed in two different directions last weekend. At Collierville High School Soroosh MacLean and Ella Sweet advanced to the final round of Extemporaneous Speaking where Soroosh placed 4th and Ella placed 5th. Soroosh also advanced to the final round of Impromptu where he placed 6th. Lydia Yousief advanced to finals in Oratory where she placed 2nd. Way to go, team!
Eamon Smith competed at the George Mason University Patriot Games national invitational in Poetry and Oratory. 138 students competed in Oratory where Eamon advanced to the top 35 in Quarter Finals and just barely missed advancing the the semi final round by two. Eamon placed 16th overall. Eamon has now earned one of the two bids he needs to secure a spot at the National Individual Events Tournament of Champions being held in San Antonio, TX in May. This is the tournament that Tyler Lawrence '12 won National Champion in Prose last year. Good luck, Eamon!
Our next tournament and last of the first semester is at WKU this Saturday. WKU is also a "TOC bid" tournament.
