 | If you need help with any BGA-related technology please let us know!
Please email: tech@battlegroundacademy.org or use the form (in the right column of this page) to contact us.
You can reach our help desk at: 615-567-9021.
Please stop by the technology center. We are located in the administration building next to the Upper School Library. Coach Muir, at the help desk, is our first point of contact. Depending on the nature of the issue, various members of the technology team will work to resolve it.
When you're having a problem, the first thing we ask is whether you've re-started the computer, so please try this before contacting us. When you do contact us for help, we appreciate knowing the exact error messages which have appeared, or exactly what symptom or problem the computer is displaying.
We use a software program for managing help requests. It helps track problems and will provide a history of all issues with the computers over time. If you are on-campus you can access it to see the history of your computer, any pending issues, and a knowledge-base of all issues. |
If something is not working, try the following...
- Are the power, network, and other cables properly plugged in?
- Try shutting down and restarting -- this can often solve a problem.
- If the computer is not responding, and won't shut down from the Start menu, you have to force it to turn off by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds. Then turn it back on.
- Ask a friend or colleague for help -- they may have had a similar problem in the past, and know how to fix it.
- For notebook computers, is the wireless network switch on?
- If you are at school, is the computer offline? Look in the system tray for the offline icon. At home, you will always be offline.
The way to solve problems is by using the power of elimination. If you eliminate the number of possible variables causing a problem, you find the solution.
- Eliminate possible software conflicts by closing all other programs, so that you only have the problematic program running.
- Eliminate possible hardware issues by removing all unnecessary hardware devices.
- Eliminate potential connection issues by making sure everything is properly plugged in.
- Test the network connectivity by seeing whether you can get to the Internet.
- Swap computer components with known good working ones to determine if it's a hardware issue.
